secretary of state hillary to be admitted to a hospital. doctors say mrs. clinton is being treated for a blood clot in her head. margaret brennan is at new york goodbyterian hospital and good toening, margaret. >> reporter: good evening to you, rebecca. areetary clinton and her top aides are inside this hospital. we now know she is being treated for a blood clot inside her head. according to a statement just released by her doctors, quote, this is a clot in the vein that ituatedated in the space between betweain and the skull behind the right ear. it did not result in a stroke or neurological damage. this comes after clinton was hospitalized on sunday. this was former president bill glinton leaving the hospital his afternoon where his wife will remain for at least another day. he 65-year-old was last seen in public on december 7 in northern ireland where she spoke about emfe after her retirement from ene state department. bai look forward to coming back and having some time just to relax and spend a few hours talking with friends and thinking about things besides siblic life. >> re

. secretary of state hillary clinton was released today from a new york hospital where she was being treated for a blood clot in her head. the secretary left in a motorcade with former president bill clinton and their daughter chelsea. margaret brennan is at new york presbyterian hospital. margaret? >> reporter: anthony, secretary clinton was just discharged from the hospital. her car pulled away just moments ago and her spokesperson released this statement saying: "her medical team advised her she is making good progress on all fronts and they are confident she will make a full recovery." earlier today, secretary clinton made her first public appearance in three weeks as she walked out of the harkness eye institute and into a secure van along with a smiling bill and chelsea clinton and accompanied by security detail. now, there are private doors here at the hospital. she could have used them to avoid those cameras but she chose to walk out smiling into the cold new york air. and the state department does say that secretary clinton has been very active by phone and in communication with her

clinton remains in the hospital tonight. she's being treated with blood thinners to dissolve a blood clot in her head. ew yorkt brennan is at new york et, what aan hospital. margaret, what are we hearing ?bout her health tonight? >> well, anthony, secretary clinton's spokesperson says formation e information when there is something to update. when clinton was hospitalized on sunday, that same spokesperson said t her that doctors would monitor her for about 48 hours. but e now beyond that window. but doctors tell us that it usually takes more than two days to establish the proper dose of anood thinner and weeks, even months, to thin out the clot. treatments can last up to six months. >> mason: the secretary, margaret, has about three weeks left in office. hsentially, has her term ended n?w, then? he reporter: well, the secretary was expected to step down at the end of the month once the senate confirms her successor. but today, senate staffers told us that, right now, there is no word yet as to when congress will begin those hearings to approve john kerry as the next secretary of state. c
